I start by boiling four cups of water.
Then wait for a while. I really can't tell you how long and I don't think it matters! I forgot about it. No need to stress over how long, but I would wait at least 10 minutes.
Then load it in the blender and let-r-rip! Seriously, be careful. Hot liquids in the blender can be dangerous. I like to put a dishtowel over the top and rest my hand on top when I start it, just in case.
Then put a fine mesh strainer on top of a pitcher and strain. (You may wish to adjust this step. I like to have a bit more body in the coconut milk, so I use a metal strainer. If you want it thinner, then layer in cheesecloth or a flour sack towel.)
Then pour into containers and you're done! It's really that easy!
I keep it in the fridge and it does separate a bit. I just shake it up and it's back to normal. Now, I just need to think of something to do with the left over coconut...
