The Plan, by Lyn-Genet Recitas, is based on a simple
premise:
“Your weight is nothing more than a reflection of your body’s
chemical reaction to foods.” - Lyn-Genet Recitas
Really. That’s
it. It’s not calories in, calories out,
too much fat, too many carbs, too much meat, not enough superfoods…or anything
else touted by the many diet gurus out there.
When you eat a food that your body responds poorly to, it
triggers inflammation, which can cause a whole host of medical issues: weight
gain, migraines, skin conditions, high blood pressure, and much more. On The Plan, you’ll know you ate a food that
triggers inflammation for you when you either have a weight gain or your weight
loss stalls.
The plan really isn’t a diet. It’s a protocol that teaches you how to
discover what foods your body responds well to.
For the first twenty days, you follow a menu outlined in the book. After that you embark on your own testing journey
with guidance from the book.
It’s basically a “controlled experiment.” Think of it like a science project…you want
to test individual variables and document the response to the introduction of
that variable. The variables are
different foods, and the response will be weight loss or gain. The trick is to isolate variables and test
only one per day to ensure that you don’t get inconsistent results. The results, your weigh in, are what
Lyn-Genet calls “data.” There’s no need
to stress about getting on the scale.
Just record the data and move on.
If you find a food that causes weight gain, don’t
stress. It doesn’t mean you can never
eat that food again. It means that you
know your body responds to it with inflammation. If you can live without it, great! If it’s your favorite food and you’ll just die without it, you can still eat
it! You just need to be aware that your
body will respond with inflammation and when you chose to eat that that food,
you should follow that day with a day that you know is friendly to your body in
order to promote healing.
If you are curious to learn more about The Plan, the single
best thing to do is buy the book. There’s
an Amazon link on the right side of my website.
It’s only about $15 for the hardcover, and $11 for the Kindle book. Get one.

Also, there are a few good online resources. First, check out the authors website. There you’ll find an FAQ, seasonal recipes
and other guidance. On the site, click on "The Book" and you'll find these resources.
There’s a Facebook page that’s owned by the author as well
where they post most days.
Finally, ChewFo has a more in depth summary that you might
like to read if you are unsure that you want to buy the book.
